What You Can Expect Fishing

Given the current water flow of 1,000 cubic feet per second from Flaming Gorge Dam, here’s what you can expect for fishing on sections A/B and C of the Green River for the next 5 days.:

1. **Section A/B (Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole)**:
– Water Levels: The flow is moderate, which is generally favorable for fishing.
– Drift Boat: You should be able to use a drift boat without major issues. However, always exercise caution and be aware of submerged rocks.
– Fly Patterns: Consider using midge patterns, caddis, and small nymphs.
– Fishing Conditions: Expect good trout activity, especially during morning and evening hatches.

2. **Section C (Little Hole to Browns Park)**:
– Water Levels: Similar to Section A/B, the flow is moderate.
– Drift Boat: Drift boats are suitable here as well, but be mindful of rocks.
– Fly Patterns: Try streamers, nymphs, and terrestrial patterns.
Trout fishing remains very productive, with opportunities for hefty brown and rainbow trout. Especially when you’re fishing with streamers immitating small trout, leeches & be sure to pack along your terrestrial patterns like grasshoppers & ants .

Fly patterns to consider for fishing on the Green River in sections A/B and C:

1. **Section A/B (Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole)**:
– **Midge Patterns**: Use midge larvae and pupae imitations in sizes 18-24. Colors like black, gray, and cream work well.
– **Caddis Patterns**: Elk Hair Caddis, X-Caddis, and CDC Caddis in sizes 14-18.
– **Nymphs**: Zebra Midges, Pheasant Tails, and Hare’s Ear Nymphs in sizes 16-20.

2. **Section C (Little Hole to Browns Park)**:
– **Streamers**: Woolly Buggers, Sculpin patterns, and leech imitations. Sizes 4-8.
– **Nymphs**: Stonefly nymphs (such as Pat’s Rubber Legs), Copper Johns, and Prince Nymphs in sizes 10-16.
– **Terrestrial Patterns**: Ants, beetles, and grasshoppers. Sizes 12-16.

Remember to adjust your fly selection based on the specific conditions and hatches you observe.
